I have had this product for over a year now, and really like the speed the FireWire 800 gives my Mac. The only issue is with the power button. I prefer the type of external hard drive that comes on when power from the PC or Mac is on. But I knew this ahead of time, and bought a Green surge protector to help with automatically turning on this external hard drive. Built quality is good, no complaints there. It do notice a spin up sound, and it isn't the quietest device on my PC desk. But it is acceptable for the storage and speed you get.
