This drive worked great and was very fast with USB3.0. I backed up my entire machine (pretty much the full 2TB) in an evening with no issues. The problem for me happened a few weeks later when the drive would not power on. While playing with the drive, I found that the base is actually a SATA/USB3 dock that Seagate sells separately and mine no longer powers the drive. I've submitted an RMA to Seagate to just return the base while keeping the hard drive will all of my data on it.

This Western Digital, 2TB, My Book Studio is a beautiful product. It integrates perfectly with my 27" iMac. The Firewire 800 interface is leaps and bounds better than USB 2.0 and the included cables match the Apple factory cables. The insulating jackets are white rather than the standard black PVC coating on cheaper cables and the aluminum enclosure is an almost perfect match to the iMac housing. The drive has clear silicone rubber feet that isolate any drive vibration from being coupled to the desktop surface. Also, because they are soft, they won't mar the finish of your desk. The drive is pre-formatted for Mac OS X and integrates perfectly with Lion's Time Machine feature. Finally, this drive includes a second Firewire 800 port, so you can daisy-chain additional Firewire 800 devices rather than having to buy a hub since the newest iMac's only have a single Firewire port. I can't think of anything negative to say about this product.

I transfers are fast with my macbook 2008 with 8g of RAM.

It is VERY easy to use.
Basically, I just fired it up connected it to my laptop, and it was ready to go.
I dragged tons of files, songs, pictures and videos to it.
Feels good to know that I have them all backed up.

Bought this for the 3TB included SATA drive, took it out of the case and it's exactly what I wanted, a 3TB internal drive at for what these days passes as a great price. Bonus, I put an old 750MB SATA drive in the case, put on a bit of ductape to make up for the broken plastic clips and give the design a little pizzazz, and gave it to a relative who needed a USB external; it's working fine for them. Obviously, no warranties remain but it doesn't sound like the warranty is worth a whole lot anyway.

This 4TB drive works great for me. I copied the software to another drive, then did a full format of the drive. I plugged it into my Windows 7 computer using a USB 2.0 connection and moved over files from another 3TB drive (before eventually replacing a 2TB drive). It took a long time to move the files (about two days), but it has run without any problems. The two drives got warm (but not hot) during the long copy but had no problems. It plays videos without any problems. Easy to install, runs cool enough, and quiet enough.
