First of all sorry for the delay on publishing review. I did not get to work on this until after X-mas. Right out of the box, I connected it to my Desktop PC (Windows 7 Pro 32 bits) without any problem (Power and USB 3/2 cords). Then deleted of bundled HP SimpleSave (I prefer to use Windows synchronization to select and/or go manually (that is basically copy) al data and multimedia files that I want to backup, as well as create network based directories for some user folders. I formated into one single NTFS GPT volume (mind though that formatting a 2 TB Disk takes long (I don't use quick format). Then connected it to my (bought from Amazon) Linksys E series router USB Port as a home Network Access Storage, so computers in the home group network don't have to share their internal disks, hence avoiding the inconvenients of not being able to access files on other computers when on or more of them are turned off. So far great I'm able to access the disk and its folder from all computers in our home network. So, right now I'm in the process of learnning and implementing the best way to manage accees rights (multiple OS: Win7, Win XP & Mac OS X Lion)-which is a router functionality issue, to the different disk folders using the router feature for that purpose. However, by know all important files are in this disk. Other comments: runs very quietly, nice foot print (stands up vertically), great appearence and blue led to notice activity. So far very satisfied with the choice.
